before you start
  • the device is already set up for delivery
  • create an account on BoviMemo (via menu bar www.farmlabo.eu)
  • register your device on BoviMemo with BoviLab user registration (SN number is on the back of the device)
  • set the date setting correctly (D-M-Y)
  • if you have a result in BoviMemo, set the unit correctly for each parameter by clicking on each analyte. This is a one-time thing. Always choose mmol/L for the transition slide.
  • create an account on the Dashboard, preferably use the same login details as for BoviMemo (via menu bar www.farmlabo.eu)
  • additional information can be found on our knowledge base (accessible via the Help center in the footer)
preparation
  • preferably tap heparin blood and examine it within a day
  • if you use serum blood, centrifuge for 10 minutes (3500 RPM)
  • when using the transition slide (monitoring) sample cows in the close-up period and fresh period (see also: how to start with the BoviLab concept)
  • do not sample sick cows for monitoring
  • heifers can be sampled also for monitoring, but be aware that you also sample multiple lactation cows

  • drop accurately on the sieve in the middle of the slide
  • pipette to the first stop of the pipette
  • there must be no blood outside the inner ring of the slide
  • put the slide in the device ( with an arc, from above)
  • press the red button (analysis)
  • enter a cow number, for processing the data it is important to add C(lose-up), F(resh) or S(ick) to it, then a dot and the lactation days (for example: 34C.-5 = cow number 34, 5 days before the expected calving date)
  • after 6.5 minutes the result is on the screen (is stored internally), with 'next' the next sample can be examined. When you are done you end with 'finish'.
  • all results are under the blue button (Result)
